Puff pastry butterflies with turmeric wings
This recipe is perfect for creating delicate and delicious eye-catchers from just a few ingredients. We chose yellow turmeric wings, but you could also use rosehip powder for a reddish colour. You could even go ahead and bake a whole multi-coloured butterfly swarm - as sweet (Easter) buffet decorations or simply to welcome spring.

Baking time: approx. 20 mins
Ingredients for 12 butterflies:
1 roll MOIN Spelt Puff Pastry Vegan
4 heaped tablespoons of sugar
1 heaped tablespoon turmeric
a little water to coat
Zubereitung
- Remove the Vegan Spelt Puff Pastry from the fridge and leave at room temperature for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C (fan-assisted) or 200°C (top and bottom heat).
- Mix sugar and turmeric.
- Roll out the puff pastry and brush thinly with water using a pastry brush.
- Spread the sugar-turmeric mixture evenly over the puff pastry.
- Roll up the puff pastry from both short sides towards the centre.
- Turn the dough so that the two rolls lie on top of each other.
- Cut 2 - 3 cm thick pieces with a knife or sharp spatula.
- Cut these pieces again halfway on the open side (see pictures below).
- Then carefully take the pieces, unfold them like a butterfly and arrange them evenly on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
- Bake the butterflies for about 20 to 25 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy and eat them while they are still warm.
Tip: Instead of turmeric, you can also use rosehip powder or other coloured spices to your taste.
