Kenya's push for climate protection & food sovereignty

"Vegan for climate" is an educational project of MTOFU Education, in cooperation with Animal Save and the Vegan Society in Kenya. Promoting people's food sovereignty is of utmost importance to us! And it is evident that there is a lot to be done in terms of climate protection. That is why we are very happy to be able to support this wonderful project.

For one year, the MTOFU team visits different schools around Nairobi to talk to children about how veganism is linked to environmental protection. How does the food industry affect our climate? Why is the meat industry one of the biggest emitters of CO2? How does plant-based nutrition have a positive influence on the health of the Earth's soil, water and air? What do animals have to do with a hamburger? What does a tofu hot dog taste like?

The children experience the latter at the end of the workshop. Then it's "vegan smokies for everyone", because nothing is as enlightening as your own experience. The children are delighted and some are very surprised at how much they like tofu. So vegan food has nothing to do with missing out - but a lot to do with climate protection!

We think it's really brilliant that such a forward-looking project is taking place in Kenya. Wouldn't it be great if we took it as an example and supported food sovereignty for the next generations in German schools as well?

All over the world there are people working on the same, valuable goals and we can always learn from each other. We say "thanks a million" to the initiators of "Vegan for climate", with whom we were already able to realise a school garden project together in 2020. Shaping the future together!
